1. Bettmeralp village and hiking in the Aletsch

A beautiful part of Switzerland

It was a cloudy morning when we left the Bettmeralp village by cable car to Bettmergrat (2600m), from where we hiked back. The route mainly ran parallel to the Aletsch Glacier and with the mountains on our right.

The Aletsch Glacier is the largest in the Alps with a length of about 23 km, and the whole area around the glacier and some surrounding valleys are on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The route is rocky, rugged and beautiful. While on the track, you can hear the roaring sound of the meltwater rushing down from the glaciers across the valley.

I am awestruck every time that I am in this area.
